Lisa's Most Marvelous Mother

Just wanted to take a minute and toot my mother's horn because she totally rocks!  Not only has she been fighting pancreatic cancer since she was diagnosed last May, she recovered from a totally horrific surgery, and went back to work... THEN... when her cancer returned in November and she wasn't able to work, she only quit for a little while until she could have a procedure to manage the pain, and while still recovering, took the entire family to Hawaii and THEN went back to work!  Seriously, this woman is tough as nails and totally awesome!!!!

Even though she has now officially stopped working, she's hardly down for the count.  Here are a few of the things that she has been up to in just the past month despite her illness that makes her the most amazing woman I know.

Mom in her sewing room hemming a pair of pants with her little helpers (this was in January).

A partial family photo after mom gave an amazing talk on the atonement at church on January 29.

Shopping at Siegfried's for some yummy German food to send to her friend Friedel in Idaho on Feb 10.

Mom even ordered these flowers and an identical one for Kristin and sent them to us at work on Valentines Day.  She is so cute!
Last week, mom finished making a fur collar from scratch for one of her long time clients.  Here is she sewing in the lining.

Most recently, she went to Anneli's house on Sunday for a late Valentine's turkey dinner.

Mom all tucked in and ready for bed with Mahonri in his usual spot.
I love you Mom!!!!

Idaho Road Trip!

Kristin's cousin Amanda is leaving on Wednesday to serve a mission in Copenhagen Denmark, very exciting!

She lives in Boise so Kristin's sisters Megan and Emily, piled in the car with me and Kristin and we made the 6 hour drive to attend her farewell, hear her speak at church, hang out with the family, and say goodbye since we won't be seeing her again for 18 months.

This is my mom's best friend Elfride, or as I grew up calling her "Tante Friedel."  She lives in Boise and we stopped by to see her before heading to Kristin's aunt's house.  We took her some German food and treats from my mom, showed her pictures from Hawaii and heard some amazing stories about how her family escaped from Germany during the war.  It was fun getting to hang out with her.

The drive to see Amanda and stay with Aunt Jen took us through this cute little neighborhood with beautiful houses...

... and one very random castle home.
We finally made it to Aunt Jen's for dinner and had a fun evening playing games and catching up with family.  The next day, Amanda did an amazing job with her talk!  She's going to make a great missionary!

At the open house after church.

Good-bye hugs
We didn't stay long because it was going to be a 6 hour drive home and both Megan and Emily had to work on Monday (Kristin and I were smart and took Monday off), but we were happy that we got to go.
