Last year, before mom's cancer diagnosis, she announced that she was going to take the entire family to Hawaii for Christmas. She had never been and always wanted to go. Plans and reservations were made and then she got sick. This whole year has been a roller coaster with her health and the possibility that she wasn't going to make it the on the trip was very scary and real. Even a week ago she was saying she didn't think she could do it. I hate flying anyway, but was especially nervous for all the things that could go wrong on this flight. When I saw Elder Holland and his wife board our plane it helped ease my nerves a lot. We got to fly to Hawaii with a General Authority, cool! It wasn't until the plane took off and there was no chance of return that I really believed mom was going to finally get to see Hawaii. We originally had a flight that included a long layover in LA, but were able to switch the entire family on an earlier direct flight to make things easier for mom. Dad wanted to take the original flight however, so the plan is for him to join us later. Kristin isn't coming on the trip at all... someday I'll forgive her, but it's not today. This is a hard time of year for her to get away from work, and with her parents leaving on a mission after Christmas she decided to spend the holidays with them instead of my crazy bunch. Hey Kristin, post some pictures of Christmas with your family okay?

Thanks awesome pilots for getting us all there safely! |
Even the airport was beautiful and had amazing gardens that we passed on our way to get our luggage. |
Sharks at the airport. I wonder where they are going? |
