Easter Sunday

Happy Easter Kristin!!!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter morning and liked all of your surprises, especially your new blog.  I've never hidden a blog in an Easter basket before.  I guess there is a first time for everything, even for the Easter Bunny!  I hope that you enjoy going back and reading about everything that has happened at home over the past week and that you'll add many more of your own stories and pictures as you make new memories in your life.  Well, it's Easter morning and I still have a lot of eggs to hide, so I better be on my way.  Happy Easter!

Love,

Visiting our boy and the Easter Party

Today we needed to take Sparks to the vet to get a urinalysis to monitor is bladder problem.  His vet isn't particularly close to our house, but it is very close to the cemetery where Sooty is buried.  We also wanted to go visit him today since they were having an Easter open house for the families.  Rather than make two trips to the same place we just decided to take Sparks with us to the cemetery.  This is something that we'd never done before, but it ended up working out okay and Sparks handled the stress of it pretty well.  The flowers and candle votives were provided by the cemetery.  Aren't they pretty?

We really love this cemetery.  Their pet memorial garden is so peaceful and pretty.  It is a very nice place to be able to go and remember our Sweet Sooty.

Later in the afternoon we headed off to Salem for an Easter party with the Andersons.

After the Easter egg hunt Kristin's mom helped the kids decorate rolls they had made earlier to look like bunnies.  They were very cute.

We had a fun night hanging out in Salem with the family and realized that this was a very unusual week because between the two of us we managed to see all 11 of the nieces and nephews as well as visit Sooty.  That very rarely happens and made it kind of a special week.  Here are a few more pictures from the Salem activities before signing off.

This was the view of the mountains as we were pulling out of the driveway to come home.  Very beautiful!

Good Night,

Good Friday

Not only was today Good Friday, it was a good Friday!  We both had the day off from work so it started out with sleeping in, a yummy breakfast of french toast and fruit and just hanging out.  Then I took Riley swimming while Kristin stayed home to get unpacked and recover from her trip and a busy night.  Even though Kristin has been home for a day now, she still hasn't seen this blog.  I decided to give it to her in her Easter basket and continue to keep it up every day until Sunday (I can't promise what will happen to it after that).  Even though it is a surprise, Kristin is totally suspicious about it because my new phone suddenly stopped allowing me to email pictures to myself to upload and I couldn't figure out how to get them off.  I finally had to confess that I needed help hooking the phone up to the computer, but wouldn't let Kristin look at any of the pictures she was helping me upload.  I'm sure she has some guesses as to what I'm doing, but I bet none of them are right.  After all, who makes blogs as gifts?  I realize it is a little bit weird.  Hopefully she likes it.  Hey Kristin, do you like it?  Thanks for helping me make your present.  Sorry that I'm so technologically impaired.  The following pictures were made possible by you...

Although the afternoon was perfect weather to get caught up on some yard work and finish some other projects we ended up just relaxing and hanging out at home.  It totally felt like a Saturday

Welcome Home Kristin!

We were all so happy today when Kristin finally made it home.  Our kitties missed her so much and she is thrilled to be out of the car.  20 hours each way is a long drive, not to mention that she hurt her back in Iowa playing with her niece on the trampoline so it was a particularly uncomfortable trip home.  As if that weren't bad enough, Kristin was welcomed home by a ton of blooming plants and trees, and three lovey kitties who missed her and wanted to love her and lick her, which really made her allergies flair up (especially since she hadn't been taking her allergy medication while she was gone).  She had a pretty bad asthma attack and has been really stuffed up, so hopefull all the medicine that she took tonight will help .  At least the weather guy was right and it did get warm enough for a few tulips show up for her arrival home (I planed a bunch of red ones too.  Don't ask me where those are).

The flowers in front of our house.

As planned, Riley came over to spend the night and the evening went really well.  His friend Britton that he hasn't seen since last year came over to play, then we made popcorn, played games and watched a move, Ghostbusters 2 (guess who picked that one out?). It has been over 2 years since Riley has slept over.  I'm so glad that he finally trusts us enough again.  Here are some favorite moments from the evening.

"Run, run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread man"

Riley was so impressed at this "new" way to make popcorn

Riley was so excited about the homemade popcorn, but later after he tasted it he suggested to Kristin that the next time we are at the store we should look for the kind that comes in a box that says "Theatre" on it.
It doesn't look like it, but this is the game that Riley wanted to play.

Annie was so happy to have her mommy home and be able to return to her favorite sleeping spot... on top of Kristin.
Good Night!

Happy Birthday Kitka!

Today we celebrated Kitka's Birthday.  Kitka's birthday is actually tomorrow, but we have other plans tomorrow night so we celebrated a day early. I got out some turkey baby food and some of Kitka's favorite treats that we refer to as kitty crack that I picked up just for her at the store today.  She goes crazy over whatever it is they put in those tiny, pink, tin containers.  I fed everyone dinner on the table and made some brownies for me. I confess that this is more than I normally would have done, but I wanted to have some cute pictures to post for Kristin.  In my mind all three cats were sitting together looking cute under the "Happy Birthday" sign.  I should have known that it wouldn't turn out like that.  This is as close as I got.

Sparks got hardship duty and had to clean up everyone else's treats... poor baby!

After dinner and treats, it was time for the party games...
"It's my party and I'll chill if I want to!"
Finally, all three in one picture

Crazy Annie!

After the party, I finished cleaning the house to get ready for tomorrow.  Not only is Kristin coming home, but Riley is coming to sleepover for the first time since he moved back in with his mom two years ago.  I'm very excited!  His good friend Britton is coming over to play in the evening, then we are going to have nachos and treats and eat popcorn in bed while we watch a movie and fall asleep.  On Friday we may go swimming.  I'm very excited.  I'm also excited that while I was cleaning I found my prescription sunglasses that have been lost for over a year and a half!  It was freak luck that I found them, but with summer right around the corner, this was perfect timing.  I'm very happy about that.  It was the perfect ending to an average day.  By this time tomorrow Kristin will be home and then it really will be a perfect day.

My random observation and question of the day is, why do checkers at the grocery store always ask if you found everything you needed when they have no intention of helping you if you answer no?  I find it very annoying!

Good night,
Lisa
