Lazy Saturday

Saturday started off good.  After getting up, getting dressed, creating this blog and having breakfast, it was time to take Kitka to the vet.  She's not sick, but has some problems with increased aggression ever since Sooty died last year.  She gets in fights all the time with other cats and has been badly hurt several times as a result.  She was a very high anxiety cat to start with and all the kitty politics, switching around of the hierarchy without Sooty present and who knows what else goes through their brains, was just too much. In an attempt to help her find some inner peace we did some out of the box thinking and finally turned to acupuncture as a way to help her relax.  She has been going for several months now and it seems to be working.  She has nicened up a lot, there is less fighting in our house, she is more lovey and more mellow, and she she's recently started doing some new cute things like bringing me toy mice in bed.

Here she is getting her acupuncture.  It's amazing how much she seems to like it.

After I got home I made lunch and had big plans to go work in the yard, but that didn't happen and I ended up falling asleep.  Three and a half hours later I woke up and it was time to go again.  I had a few errands to run on my way to Ogden to visit my sister for her birthday.  I forgot to grab a chapstick on my way out and intended to pick some up while I was at the store.  I got distracted by displays of cute Eater things and instead of just grabbing what I needed I impulse bought some Strawberry Shortcake lip gloss thinking it would do the trick and be fun.  Turns out, it was neither.  It didn't replace my need for chapstick and the unexpected super bright pink was a little much for me.  In case anyone is wondering, Strawberry Shortcake lip gloss is a non functional product intended for little girls playing dress up.  I'm sure all the moms in the world already knew this, but it was news to me.

6 hours later I came home to find that poor sparks had been locked in the basement the entire time I was gone.  Poor Baby!  I don't know how that happened because I hadn't been in the basement all day and don't remember shutting the door on my way out, and I fed all the cats, including sparks, who was in the kitchen, just minutes before I left.  I felt really bad so he got some extra love, play time, and treats before it was time for medicine and bed.  Hopefully Sunday goes better for him.

Poor Spaks, waiting for his medicine after spending the entire evening in the basement

Everyone gets to enjoy treats after Sparks takes his asthma medicine. (I tried to get a picture of him in action with his mask, but that is gonna be a two person job for a future post).
